This is a very quick down and dirty video about Ovitalmap on an iPad. It is answering a question someone asked me about downloading charts in Ovitalmap. It is not a comprehensive tutorial…just a quick one to answer the question that one person asked about using Ovitalmap. , and then 2 more right after that…Hope it can help you! Specifically it’s is about using Ovitalmap on an iPad, not on a windows computer which I found to be nearly impossible! It is a much better application on the iPad.

I am looking to try Ovital and was looking for advice on how to get started. You’d sounded good but it didn’t open/play, any tricks?
Regards JP
Thanks for the Ovital video
I did not follow how you download the zoomed in chart in the second half of your tutorial. Can you download the whole screen? Drawing a shape every time is error prone with getting too much overlap or not getting the shapes boundaries to match?
Thanks for the question….I sent you an email.
Sent an email to yours…hope you got it!
Hi, this was the only help I could find re Ovital maps and it confirmed what I learnt by trial and error. Great.
One question, when you download a shaped area it downloads and then checks at least twice at what point does it actually save a download in a usable form?
Phil
Glad it was helpful! I’m not sure exactly when it is saved…since I hardly ever download the shape…I Zoom in to each area, in as far as I can, for each area I want…I would guess though that when it says it’s downloaded 100%, that this is when it’s actually complete, not before.
Hi. The new version of Ovitalmap does not have Google maps as an option… but you can add a custom map (like google) but do you know how to do that?
I will look in to it. I’m so settled here in Grenada right now that I haven’t really thought about it much. Wasn’t it BING they use anyways?
