It was a ton of work and took months to treat or repair these awful resin blisters. I think we discovered that simply peeling to a particular depth may not be the best way to go as the blisters originate in variable depths throughout the laminate. This is part one of two parts about the blister repair we completed on our 1976 Valiant 40 Brick House this past year. Come learn some tips and tricks to repairing the blisters on an old fiberglass boat and making her look new again!

Please leave your opinions and comments on the video, not on this blog…thanks!

  1. Hey guys… watching your efforts from New Zealand on our Valiant 40 2nd Chance… built in Bellingham 1976!! I bought the boat in 1989 and moved aboard right away. Sunny Coveney and I have been cruising/ living aboard since 1994… we did this job on 2nd Chance in 1999…. I can share with you our method if you want. Sunny says she worked with/knows you guys…The good news: 21 years on now and NO MORE BLISTERS!!! We painted the boat navy blue…. so even with the heat the dark colour has increased on the surface… NO MORE BLISTERS .. Good luck

  2. Patrick is writing an email to you right now! Would love to hear more about your method:)
